What are the differences between these three types of high temperature resistant glass?

1. Different compositions: High borosilicate glass is mainly composed of sodium oxide, boron oxide and silicon dioxide. The boron content is relatively high, about 12.5% to 13.5%, while the silicon content is about 78% to 80%. In contrast, quartz glass consists only of silica, and its purity can reach 99.99%.

2. Different temperature resistance: High borosilicate glass has a strain temperature of 520 degrees Celsius and a softening temperature of 820 degrees Celsius. Quartz glass can withstand higher temperatures, starting to soften at about 1100 degrees Celsius, and its melting point is about 1700 degrees Celsius.

3. Quartz glass is not only resistant to high temperatures, but also has the advantages of acid and corrosion resistance, and has good electrical insulation properties.

High Borosilicate Glass

High borosilicate glass has the characteristics of chemical resistance, thermal shock resistance, good mechanical properties, high operating temperature, and high heat resistance. Therefore, it is also called heat-resistant glass, heat-shock-resistant glass, and high-temperature-resistant glass. It is also a A kind of special glass fireproof glass.

High borosilicate glass, because its linear thermal expansion coefficient is (3.3±0.1)×10-6/K, is also called "borosilicate glass 3.3". Quartz Glass

Quartz glass sheets are usually colorless and transparent, with a visible light transmittance of more than 85%. Features: heat resistance,acid and alkali resistance, light transmittance, electrical insulation, and chemical stability.

For example, in terms of optical properties, it can not only transmit far ultraviolet light, which is the best of all ultraviolet transparent materials, but also can transmit visible light and near-infrared spectrum. Because quartz glass is resistant to high temperatures, has a very small thermal expansion coefficient, and has good chemical stability.
